Expert Advice on Dance, Fitness and Life

Inspiration

Look to others for inspiration.  Life is full of interesting people who are trying to achieve a similar goal as you.

For me Inspiration can be found anywhere and sometimes it is found in the weirdest places.  I have been inspired by music, a scene in a movie or play, fashion, concerts and everything else under the sun.  Sometimes the idea hits me and it automatically starts playing as a music video in my head other times I can just close my eyes and my body knows what to do.

I have had the honor of working and learning from many great choreographers and dancers all have which have inspired me, the great ones do that.  They make you want to dance better, not be afraid to take risks, challenge you, and make you want to be a better person outside of dance.  They are positive and up lift you because in turn you inspire them.  You inspire them to keep following their passion.  Whenever I have been inspired I try to bring that back with me.  It makes me want to in turn inspire others and leave them with that good feeling I was left with.

Some of the choreographers and dancers that inspire me, encourage me, and I have had the honor of learning from:  Tina Landon, Brian Friedman, Sean Bankhead, Luam, Kiki Ely, John Peters, Tabitha and Napoleon Dumo, Laurean Gibson, Chi Chi Randolph, Kishaya Dudley, Chuck Maldonado, Mina and Morena Ortega, Melissa Martinez, and Priscilla Barnes.  These are just a few of the people have left and are still leaving a constant impression on me.

I am going to leave you with this, I recently went to a concert at SXSW in Austin and the singer said something that resonated with me.  At the beginning of her show she said, “I hope I inspire you.”

So as I take this journey, I hope I inspire you.
